From May 17 to 19 at the Maritime Station in Naples, over 200 wineries and 2,000 labels come together for a three-day event blending tasting, culture, and business.
There are events that grow alongside Italian wine, accompanying its evolution, capturing its trends, and, in some way, helping to shape its narrative. VitignoItalia is one of them.
From May 17 to 19, in the setting of the Stazione Marittima di Napoli, the event celebrates its twentieth anniversary, bringing to the heart of Naples more than 200 wineries and over 2,000 labels from across Italy. An important milestone, not only a celebration, but also an opportunity to reflect on two decades of wine evolution, balancing territorial identity and openness to international markets.
Naples, overlooking the Mediterranean and defined by its natural sense of hospitality, once again becomes a crossroads of stories, grape varieties, and people. The tasting journey turns into a true voyage across Italy: from the great reds of Chianti to the sparkling wines of Conegliano Valdobbiadene, passing through the refined expressions of Friuli and reaching the most distinctive wines of Sicily. At the heart of it all lies Campania, with its territories—from Irpinia to Sannio—playing an increasingly prominent role on the national stage.
Yet VitignoItalia is not only about tasting. It is about dialogue, insight, and connection. The program features vertical tastings, thematic seminars, and dedicated meetings designed to connect producers, industry professionals, and wine enthusiasts. A format that has evolved over the years while keeping wine, as an authentic expression of its territory, at its core.
“More than ever, this year VitignoItalia stands as a flagship of Italian wine excellence,” says Maurizio Teti. “Twenty years after its founding, we renew our mission: to tell the story of wine as a true expression of its territory, creating concrete opportunities for dialogue between producers, consumers, and the trade. We have designed an even more comprehensive program, capable of enhancing the sensory experience of tasting while also reflecting on the structural changes shaping the sector.”
A key element remains the dialogue with international markets, increasingly central to Italian wine. Once again, thanks to the collaboration with ICE, the event will welcome 30 international buyers from across Europe, the United States, and Japan. Not only will they attend the fair, but they will also take part in dedicated wine tours through Irpinia and Sannio, reinforcing an approach focused on a deeper understanding of the territories of origin.
Supporting this twentieth edition is a consolidated network of institutional and corporate partners, including BPER Banca, Espresso, the Chamber of Commerce of Irpinia Sannio, and the FEAMPA program. An ecosystem that reflects the very nature of VitignoItalia: a shared project that, year after year, continues to tell the story of Italian wine as a cultural, economic, and identity-driven heritage.
Twenty years on, one thing is clear: VitignoItalia is not just an event, but a privileged observatory on the present and future of Italian wine. And Naples, once again, is the perfect place to tell that story.
