Chianti DOCG by the Sea: Tuscany Meets the Mediterranean in Naples

Some wines belong to a place, while others, despite being deeply rooted in their origins, possess the ability to engage in a dialogue with distant lands. Chianti DOCG belongs to the latter category. A wine that continues to stand as one of the most recognizable symbols of Italian winemaking and that, on June 6, will find an exceptional stage in Naples to tell its story.

The historic Villa Floridiana, in the heart of the Vomero district, will host “Chianti DOCG Vista Mare – From the Tuscan Hills to the Most Beautiful Gulf in the World”, an initiative promoted by the Chianti Wine Consortium and VitignoItalia with the support of the Italian Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry.

The event aims to bring visitors closer to one of Italy’s most representative wine denominations through a tasting journey that combines wine, landscape, and hospitality culture. An ideal dialogue between the Tuscan hills and the Gulf of Naples, two very different territories united by a strong sense of identity and a long-standing tradition of conviviality.

Around 150 labels from Consortium wineries will be featured throughout the evening, offering guests the opportunity to explore the many expressions of Sangiovese and the diverse winemaking styles that define Chianti DOCG today. A journey through territories, production philosophies, and enological sensibilities, revealing how a historic denomination continues to evolve while remaining firmly connected to its roots.

“We wanted to create an event capable of bringing together landscape, wine, and hospitality culture,” explains Giovanni Busi, President of the Chianti Wine Consortium. “Naples is a vibrant and authentic city with a deep appreciation for wine culture. Chianti is particularly well-loved here, also thanks to the city’s strong international tourism appeal. Events like this allow us to showcase the contemporary face of Chianti DOCG: a dynamic, versatile wine that is increasingly aligned with the tastes and expectations of today’s consumers.”

Alongside the wines, visitors will also have the opportunity to discover some of Campania’s finest gastronomic specialties. Among them is Sorì, the historic dairy producer from Teano that has been a benchmark in Italian cheesemaking for more than 150 years, and Pulcinella Gourmet, presenting its interpretation of the traditional “frittata ‘e Pulcinella”, specially created to accompany the tasting experience.

A curated musical selection developed in collaboration with Drop Eventi will complete the atmosphere, accompanying guests along the villa’s scenic pathways from 7:30 p.m. until late into the evening, transforming the tasting into a moment of sharing, discovery, and conviviality.

For VitignoItalia, the event also represents a natural continuation of a journey that has now spanned two decades. “We have just concluded the twentieth edition of our exhibition,” notes Director Maurizio Teti. “Over the years, we have built strong relationships with some of Italy’s most important wine territories. An evening dedicated to Chianti DOCG fits perfectly within this vision and represents another step in our ongoing commitment to promoting wine culture and the people behind it.”

Between the elegance of Villa Floridiana and the breathtaking view overlooking the Bay of Naples, Chianti DOCG is once again preparing to tell its story. A story of territory, identity, and the ability to evolve without ever losing touch with its origins.
