Morellino and Solidarity: The Vignaioli di Scansano Winery Supports Skeep

A special edition of Roggiano promotes sports inclusion for young people in Grosseto.
Wine as a tool for unity, solidarity, and growth within the local community.
That’s the message coming from Scansano, where the Vignaioli del Morellino di Scansano Winery has launched a new solidarity label dedicated to Skeep, a Grosseto-based association founded in 2013 and devoted to promoting sports inclusion for young people with disabilities.“We were born to promote sport as a universal language of participation,” says Elisabetta Priami from Skeep. “Today we’re here because the winery decided to dedicate a special edition of its Roggiano wine to us, with a social label. Part of the proceeds will go toward renovating our new headquarters, allowing our kids to take part in many of our activities completely free of charge.”

The initiative is part of a broader commitment that the cooperative winery has carried on for several years, creating a series of solidarity labels that combine winemaking excellence with social responsibility. As Sergio Bucci, the winery’s technical director, explains: “The idea comes from the DNA of our cooperative — a winery deeply rooted in its territory, representing a simple, rural community like Scansano and the province of Grosseto. Within our mission lies the desire to support initiatives that do good. Skeep is certainly one of them. That’s why we wanted to dedicate visibility, time, and a product to them, so their message could reach a wider audience. The proceeds, net of taxes and production costs, will go entirely to the association.”

This is not an isolated action for the Morellino winery. “We’re now at our fourth solidarity label,” Sergio continues. “Each year we work with a different association, but we also stay in touch with those from previous years. It’s not just a seasonal project — if the association wishes to continue the collaboration, we are there, offering support in every way we can.”

The initiative also resonated deeply with Riccardo Bagaini, a Paralympic athlete who has long been close to Skeep: “I have a special bond with Grosseto — it’s where I competed in my first Italian Championship at 13 and later in my first European Championship, where I was also the flag bearer. Coming back here and reuniting with the Skeep group was emotional. It goes beyond sport — it’s about people and the memories we share.”

Led by president Cristina Artuso, Skeep currently runs eleven sports activities for young people and calls on institutions and federations to keep supporting a truly inclusive vision of sport.

“We ask everyone — not just authorities — to stand by us and help ensure that sport can truly be inclusive and welcoming for all,” says Elisabetta. “It’s a message of love and togetherness.”

A message perfectly aligned with the spirit of wine. “Wine isn’t just a pleasure to taste,” Sergio concludes, “it’s also a way to bring people together, to spark positive change in the territory, and to do good. The conviviality that surrounds a glass of wine can unite people around projects that make communities stronger. A cooperative winery is part of the social fabric — not just a wine producer.”

A toast, then, to Morellino and solidarity — and to the idea that, in the heart of the Maremma, a wine label can tell not only the story of a territory, but also one of inclusion, community, and shared humanity.
