Consorzio Roma DOC Over the Top

On September 26, the Consorzio Roma DOC, with the support of MG Logos Roma, organized an evening at the rooftop of Ozio Restaurant to celebrate 2023 as a “fantastic year” for the consortium, as highlighted by President Tullio Galassini, and to share the realization of a project aimed at increasingly promoting and spreading Roma DOC wines: the creation of the 2024 Calendar produced with the contribution of the Regional Agency for the Development and Innovation of Agriculture of Lazio (Arsial).

The consortium decided to promote its wines by focusing on the Capital with a calendar that takes viewers on a journey through the most representative places of the Eternal City. The photographic approach is “social”: they relied on the support of six young bloggers, each responsible for the shots of two months. The project was created with the intention of bringing together history and Roma DOC, a mix between ancient and modern that the consortium further emphasized by choosing a contemporary and youthful venue surrounded by history (with a 360° view over the rooftops of Rome).

For the consortium, the Capital will increasingly become the tool to promote Roma DOC wines. Strengthening this intention, the calendar is written in Latin, a language still widespread and appreciated around the world, and it will be distributed through hotels, wine shops and embassies, and will also be available for download online. Ancient and modern are in constant contrast.

In addition to many representatives of the specialized press, the event was attended by Alessandro Onorato, Councillor for Major Events, Sport, Tourism and Fashion of the Municipality of Rome, and Giancarlo Righini, Councillor for Budget and Agriculture of the Lazio Region, both of whom expressed their willingness to support the consortium in its promotional activities.

The consortium is a young reality. The Roma DOC denomination was established in 2011 with the creation of the Associazione Produttori Vini DOC Roma, founded by about ten wineries located in the Lazio area around Rome with the aim of promoting and protecting the name Roma DOC in Italy and around the world. The rapid growth of the association made a more structured organization necessary, which led to the creation of the Consorzio di Tutela del Vino Roma DOC, officially recognized by ministerial decree in February 2018. Today the consortium represents 47 producers and bottlers for a total of more than 300 hectares of vineyards and a production of about 1.88 million bottles (2022 data).
