On May 10th, the elegant halls of The Westin Excelsior Hotel will host the third edition of Berebianco, the event by Cucina & Vini dedicated to the finest Italian white wines capable of evolving over time.
Over 160 labels from 60 wineries across Italy will be available for tasting, from Friuli to Alto Adige, from Central Italy to Campania and the Islands.
Italy is often associated with young, easy-drinking white wines, but Berebianco tells a different story: that of long-lived, complex, and captivating white wines, designed to age and mature. A heritage still underappreciated, yet increasingly in the spotlight among experts and international markets.
“Today, white wine is gaining market share as red wines decline,” explains Francesco D’Agostino, director of Cucina & Vini. “Italy cannot afford to fall behind. Berebianco was created to proudly showcase the quality of our age-worthy whites, pushing for a much-needed repositioning on the international stage as well.”
The numbers back this up: between 2012 and 2024, the average export price of Italian white wines rose from €1.71 to €3.19 per liter (+87%). A significant increase, yet still below the sector average (€3.70/liter), sparkling wines (€4.29), and reds, which are approaching €5 per liter.
Among the highlights of the 2025 edition is the Consorzio Tutela Vini del Sannio, participating with a dedicated area and an exclusive masterclass focused on Falanghina del Sannio, the symbolic wine of the Campania region.
In addition to the tasting stations, the program includes in-depth masterclasses throughout the day, aimed at professionals and wine lovers. There will also be a fusion with gourmet cuisine: center stage goes to the Roman supplì, both in its classic and creative variations, curated by Supplì Bros.
