For those not in the field, when speaking about Sardinia people speak exclusively about Cannonau and Vermentino, and I must say that even among some of the insiders certain denominations are not entirely known. I do not think I am wrong when I say that an event like the one organized by Vinodabere.it was a unique opportunity to make new discoveries and to come into contact with producers and wines that deserve to be better known both by industry professionals and by the world of wine lovers.
Fortunately, as far as I am concerned, being able to participate for some years now in the tastings for the Guide to the best wines of Sardinia by Vinodabere.it has allowed me to come into contact with these wines, but above all to understand that the quality level – and I would like to point out that I am speaking about an average level and not a few exceptions – is decidedly high.
Talking among friends, it has happened to me to surprise my dining companions by making them discover that with a Cannonau in the glass one can speak of elegance rather than power. It was pleasant, putting a Bovale on the table, or if Sardinian friends prefer a Muristellu, and realizing that I had poured a wine capable of making everyone agree, just as observing the surprised looks of friends when proposing a Vernaccia di Oristano together with a blue cheese.
Speaking about wine, and about Sardinia, I would say that “wherever you go, you land well”.
At least this is the feeling that today I feel like transmitting to those who are reading me.
40 wineries and 170 wines on the tables to represent a region; this is the merit of the friends of Vinodabere.it.
Maurizio Valeriani, Daniele Moroni and Paolo Valentini the three creators of this initiative, started with three masterclasses on Sulcis, Mandrolisai and Mamoiada led by Maurizio Valeriani, Antonio Paolini and Dario Cappelloni and continued, on the afternoon of Saturday and Sunday, with the opening of the tasting tables.
Well done. See you next year?
