Bererosa 2024: the vie en rose of rosé wines in the greenery of the Capital

Two hundred labels from sixty wineries across Italy for a tasting journey among the ruins of the Appian Way.Villa Appia Antica will turn pink with Bererosa 2024, the walk‑around tasting conceived and curated by the magazine Cucina&Vini, which every year attracts hundreds of rosé wine enthusiasts. Over 200 wines will be available for tasting, both still and sparkling, for a day dedicated to exploring this wine category, which continues to show strong growth.

“A recent study published by the OIV,” says Francesco D’Agostino, Director of Cucina&Vini, “which analyzes global wine production and consumption by color, shows—with clear numbers—how rosé wines have continued their steady progression over the last twenty years, growing from just over 16 million hectoliters to nearly 21 million. In the same period, red wine has dropped by a striking 25%, reaching around 110 million hectoliters in 2021, while white wine remains at roughly the same level as twenty years ago—130 million hectoliters—thanks mainly to the strong boom in sparkling wines. It is evident that as rosé wines grow, they are taking market share from red wines, meeting widespread appreciation without bias and, above all, generating broad interest, especially among younger consumers.”

This trend has been anticipated by the increasing presence of rosé wines during happy hours as well as at dinners with friends. A modern, versatile wine—just like Bererosa—which will also offer food pairings thanks to its dedicated food area featuring some of the tastiest Made in Italy products: the fine cured meats of Villani, the seafood specialties of Il Pescatorio, the typical fried treats from Marche by La Bottega dell’Oliva Ascolana, and Caffè Toraldo for a break with authentic Neapolitan espresso. A perfect combination framed by one of Rome’s green lungs, the Appia Antica Park, which will provide a sunset backdrop in the same shades as the wines being tasted—one of the most anticipated events for Roman wine lovers, among summer aromas and the evocative Roman countryside.
