“Here we celebrate wine.” That’s how Helmuth Köcher likes to describe the philosophy behind this event. A city, Merano, that every year in November dedicates five days to the world of food and wine.
The Merano Wine Festival offers a different experience compared to other events in this sector. You can truly find a huge variety of wines “curated,” presented, and described in many different ways. The same goes for gastronomic excellence. However, if I had to describe the Merano Wine Festival to a friend, I would call it a true territorial event. An entire city devoted to the festival. A program conceived in a widespread way, based in the spectacular Kurhaus but extending into the adjacent Gourmet Arena, as well as the Hotel Terme for attending masterclasses. And then Corso della Libertà, the main street of Merano, which becomes the connecting point between the regions, the Festival, and the city itself.
The Merano Wine Festival is a comfortable event: no stress about parking, no need to cross entire cities to participate, and it’s extremely easy to meet whoever you want to meet. Everything is within a few meters.
It’s stressful, because seeing everything is truly difficult.
It’s relaxing, because everything is easy.
It’s enjoyable, because Merano is welcoming and well organized.
I would summarize all these feelings in a single word: “Organization,” a word whose meaning Helmuth and his team seem to know very well…
