It’s always difficult to get the chance to taste the Bordò wines from the Marche. Very few producers, with extremely limited quantities—ranging from just a few hundred to at most a thousand bottles—make this wine, in fact, a privilege for very few.
A privilege that I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing, both during a tasting with vinodabere.it and at the 2020 edition of Life of Wine.
I have to say that at Grenaches du Monde I had the opportunity to taste many expressions of this grape variety, but the Bordò from the Marche were a true confirmation for me: elegant, yet with strong character.
An ancient grape variety rediscovered by a small group of producers. A journey that began in 1998 and still feels far from complete—driven both by the determined spirit of these Marche winemakers and by their desire to see this path officially recognized, with the possibility of writing “Bordò” on their labels.
If you ever get the chance to taste a Bordò, I strongly suggest you don’t miss it.
