Have I already said it was my best tasting at Vinitaly 2024?
A wine born from a dedication. A rediscovered grape variety, Ruzzese, the forerunner of Sciacchetrà.
Its preparation is the result of a “social” activity, since after the drying process the whole family gathers to destem and hand‑select the grapes over six days. Even the bottle’s appearance reflects care and creativity: that “almost turquoise” color surrounding it—evoking the sea—is obtained by dipping the bottle into marine boat paint.
I’m talking about “Diciassettemaggio” by Cà du Ferrà. Only 500 bottles, long and enveloping. Honey and candied notes that bring it close to the idea of “patisserie,” yet with an acidity that keeps you coming back for another sip.
Davide, at a certain point you removed the bottle from the table, and for us that was both a great disappointment and the beginning of a wonderful memory 😉
