Antonelli’s “Vigna Tonda”

The first time I tasted “Anteprima Tonda” in Montefalco, beyond the wonderful and intriguing wine I had in my glass, I was inevitably curious about the word “tonda” appearing on the label.

Later, together with Filippo Antonelli and Luca Rosati, I had the chance to look at the old maps hanging on the walls of Antonelli San Marco, and I discovered that Anteprima was called “Tonda” because it refers to Antonelli’s “Vigna Tonda.”

It is an anteprima—and we are talking about the wonderful grape variety Trebbiano Spoletino—because the idea is to create a Cru made exclusively from grapes grown in Vigna Tonda.

Unfortunately, I am dramatically curious, so it wasn’t enough for me to know that a round vineyard existed. I actually flew over it, and I must say the effect was truly beautiful.

That’s why I wanted to share it with you.
