Mandrolisai and the Garagisti of Sorgono

People often ask me, “Can you recommend a wine for dinner tonight?” I admit that when I hear this question I always feel like answering “Mandrolisai.” The problem is that, unless the question is asked by an “expert,” the word “Mandrolisai” is usually met with an expression from my interlocutor that sounds like “what?”. It’s a pity, but I think it’s only a matter of time.

My passion for Bovale, Cannonau and Monica is by now well known. If I have guests for dinner — people who are reasonably knowledgeable and sensitive about wine — I put a Bovale on the table and I am certain it will win approval from both the men and the women at the table. It is rare for me to find friends who cannot connect with the character and elegance of this grape variety.

It is an area capable of producing wonderful wines. An area that, thanks to the friends of vinodabere.it, I have had the chance to get to know in depth, but a place that, physically speaking, I have not yet had the opportunity to visit, though I intend to make contact with it very soon.

Today I focus on “the Garagisti of Sorgono.”
I am at Slow Wine and I meet Pietro Uras, one of the garagisti.
Can I not stop? Can I not ask him if the “garage” still exists?
