“The Olympus of Lombard Wines”: excellence in a bottle for a good cause

There is a precious link between the world of Lombard wine and solidarity: it is called “The Olympus of Lombard Wines”, a project born with a noble goal — raising funds to support research against fibromyalgia.

Promoted by the Terra e Sapore association, which includes journalist Riccardo Lagorio among its members, “The Olympus of Lombard Wines” is a journey that brings together wine culture, local identity, and charity. More than just an event, it is a true competition which, through a careful selection of the region’s best wines, will culminate in a major charity auction scheduled for March 2026 in Rovato, in the province of Brescia.

The project also draws inspiration from the upcoming Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympic Games, creating an ideal “Olympus” where Lombard wine celebrates its cultural value. The wines in the competition are divided into six categories: white, red, rosé, traditional method sparkling, charmat method sparkling, and dessert wines.

A panel of ten judges will select the wines, following an original approach: five wine professionals — sommeliers, restaurateurs, and wine shop owners — and five passionate consumers, chosen among those who enjoy wine in everyday life. This dual perspective ensures an authentic and broad interpretation of the wines.

The selection process is already underway and has touched several key locations across the region. The dessert wines were evaluated in Volta Mantovana. The rosé wines in Puegnago del Garda. The white wines in Valle Camonica, at Osina. The next tasting session, dedicated to red wines, will soon take place in San Colombano al Lambro, near Milan.

At the conclusion of the tastings, the top thirty Lombard labels will be selected. These wines will then be auctioned during the final event in Rovato, with all proceeds going to fibromyalgia research. A very special auction, where not only collectors and wine enthusiasts, but also those who wish to contribute to an important cause will be bidding.

“We want the best bottles from Lombardy to become a true symbol of solidarity,” says Riccardo Lagorio. “There is no better way to combine wine culture with the desire to do good.”
