Chinggis Khan, the Vodka from Mongolia

It’s easy to say “Vodka,” but when the “Vodka” in your glass is a spirit that deserves a deeper story, things change. A product from Mongolia, made from undeniably less contaminated grain compared to those from other places. Six distillations, the last of which—hard to believe—done with diamonds. In the “official” description, I read: Six stages of distillation with premium quality alcohol. Left to rest for 21 days through charcoal, quartz, diamonds, pearls, and silver…

I wanted to try it neat, to understand if Chinggis Khan could truly take me on that experiential journey which Lorenzo Concina, the enthusiastic importer of this spirit, spoke to me about during the interview.

I must admit, I am not a spirits taster, so my thoughts should be taken as simple impressions from the tasting. What I experienced was a soft and highly elegant spirit, with a character that doesn’t rely solely on alcohol. I should also say that, although the cocktails at Drink Kong are always an experience to try, I preferred this vodka “nature,” dreaming for a moment of pairing it with a teaspoon of something equally precious 😊
