Alguer Wine Week and Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, a unique double event

Alghero will, for five days, become the cradle of Sardinian oenology and of great wines from around the world. Over 150 labels for the first edition of the event that serves as the wine ambassador of Sardinia. As part of the initiative, there will also be a special edition of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, with more than 1,000 sparkling wines available for tasting.

Alghero becomes the new cradle of the wine world with Alguer Wine Week. The new event dedicated to the best of Sardinian oenology debuts on Tuesday, July 2, and runs until Saturday, July 6, in the historic Piazza San Francesco of Lo Quarter, the heart of the Sardinian-Catalan town. For the occasion, the event will host the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, the internationally renowned competition, this year dedicated to sparkling wines. For five days, the picturesque historic center of Alghero will come alive with tastings and meetings featuring over 50 wineries from every corner of the island, offering an oenological journey through more than 150 labels to discover the producers and wine regions that make Sardinia a land of wine appreciated worldwide.

Among the major participants: Consorzio Alghero DOC, Consorzio del Vermentino DOC, Consorzio del Cannonau DOC, Consorzio del Vermentino di Gallura DOCG, Cantine del Coros, Cantine della Romangia, Consorzio della Malvasia, and Terralba DOC.

A unique initiative of its kind, created by the Consorzio Alghero DOC in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce of Northern Sardinia and Promocamera, with the support of the Sardinia Regional Tourism Department and contributions from institutional partners such as the Municipality of Alghero, Fondazione Alghero, Laore, Coldiretti, CIA – Italian Farmers, Confagricoltura, AIS Sardegna, Consorzio Riviera del Corallo, CCN Al Centro Storico, Parco di Porto Conte, and the Protected Marine Area of Isola Piana.

Local wines for the Alghero event, but also major international labels as part of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, one of the most renowned international wine competitions, which in this session dedicated to sparkling wines features no fewer than one thousand competing wines. They will be judged by a highly selected group of journalists, buyers, experts, and opinion leaders from around the world, including the United States, Canada, France, Belgium, and Singapore. Their task will be to taste and evaluate the samples, and during their moments of relaxation, they will have the chance to discover the flavors, traditions, and breathtaking landscapes that make Sardinia such a fascinating land.
