The Sicily of Francesco Spadafora

It is not easy to arrive and find your way through the small roads around Camporeale, especially after the heavy rainstorm of the previous days. It is also hard to imagine feeling so comfortable in a territory that, I must admit, I did not know before.

There is a different Sicily, a Sicily made not only of the sea but also of great hospitality. A Sicily made of an exciting land, refined simplicity, and surprising wines.

Francesco Spadafora makes you feel at home, and his passion is the best welcome that could greet our visit.

A welcome that begins at the table, with a cuisine capable of conveying hospitality, the value of raw ingredients, and the pleasure of exploring different pairings. A welcome that continues in the glass, with a vintage Grillo (2013) that is still galloping in the glass, an Orange “Siriki” 2015 capable of fascinating, and the majesty of a Cabernet Sauvignon “Schietto 2001”.

But it is in the cellar that Francesco clearly feels at ease. Together with his 27 concrete tanks, gradually restored. Together with his daughter Enrica. Each tank, a tasting. Each tank, the story of a passion.

And then sitting under a tree, with his lands behind him, with the pride of someone who loves to experiment while remaining within the principles of someone who wants to make wine naturally, with his own yeasts, making the most of the altitude, the climate, and everything that the surrounding nature has to offer.

Beautiful place. Beautiful atmosphere.
If I have the chance, I will recommend taking that winding little road, because it is truly worth traveling it and enjoying the final surprise.
